Glenn - you can already do that.  Hold the Ctrl key while scrolling - hey presto -> Zooming :)

Would be nice if one could invert this behaviour though, as zooming takes two hands, while scrolling takes one finger.  I tend to zoom far more than scroll, but that's probably just me.  Perhaps something in the Preferences settings to invert the actions of the scroll-wheel, so that Ctrl-Scroll - scrolls, but plain scrolling zooms, if you see what I mean...

Another suggestion for me to post on the AB website :)
