Hi Herman,
Yah, I may have to look at 2 monitors some time down the track.

Hello Tomasz,

Don't you think that switching windows is good idea.

No I do not. It's only an OK idea. Suitable to get the job done only (ie
manditory).
However, Without transparancy or "Something", I think it may well end up
being a pain in the ASS.

I like to be able to see instanly the changes to my chart when I hit
apply.
REASON: When coding AFL that just isn't working right (Visualy or Code
wise) I very often make 1 very minor change then view the change - And
repeat this proccess untill I am happy with the result, Which is quite
often after MANY changes/views.
Doing this - As you could appreciate - is best done with minimal fuss.
Adding the need to switch windows to see your chart is like taking
"mininal fuss" and progressing it to the "medium fuss" level.............

I know this isn't realy a good comparison but............. Here goes.
Transparancy:
Winamp does it nicely on my 850mhz 512mb PC WHILE decoding .mp3 WHILE
milkdrop is playing animations AS my "desktop background".
Why is it such a burdon for just the "IB" editor to be transparent? It's
not doing any excessive proccessing - And nor is Amibroker if your in
the middle of writting AFL code!!!

It is very easy to use Windows task bar, isn't it?

As for transparency - this feature is available on Windows XP and 2000
and eats huge amount of resources (transparency is implemented by
combining two bitmaps on pixel by pixel basis), so I am not big fan of it.

Hi Tomasz,
I am also a little concerned with the full screen editor.
I regualy use IB to visualy check codes I am writting (Both Backtest AND
Indicator) - As Ken was saying - Make some changes - Hit Apply - See
chart results.

Granted - It's pretty difficult with current IB builder taking up so
much screen estate. But you can still move it to see the chart behind.
If IB becomes one full screen - Then "Switching" windows will be the
only alternative?

May I make a realy good (as in 3 stars!) suggestion.......
With the eventual change of IB to Fullscreen AFL editor - Make the
option to adjust the TRANSPARANCY of the Fullscreen window. So we can
still see the charts behind as we apply changes etc.

   Michael.

Ken,

The key word is: "separate AFL full-screen editor"

There will you do all your development work.
It will be more convenient than current solution because
you will be able to resize the code window to cover entire screen.

You will choose "Edit formula" and editor will open up,
then you will change a few lines and "apply" the code by saving it in the

editor.

Then you can change next lines and save again and changes will be

applied.

Something about this idea sound wrong, wrong, wrong.

I do almost all of my development work in IB. Constant tweaking of
signal logic, adding and subtracting other conditions, etc, then quick
Apply and back to alteration.

Where would this be done if not in an IB window?

Many of us (I am sure) do “visual” development work and I can not
conceive how the new d&d system with just a full screen editor would
allow me to do this.

Before you do it, could you explain more?

Ken

Hello,

By the way: Indicator Builder window will be probably removed from
future versions at all.

There will be only Parameter window, plus only grid/axis/scaling
settings
and separate AFL full-screen editor.
