Thanks much for the advice. Fortunately, I have a program called
'Automate', which I've had for some time (and which I have long used
for entering new dates in the Downloader), and which can do the job.
I just built a macro with it for saving the xls as a csv and exiting
Excel, and it works just fine. So next, I'll work on one for a csv
import into AB, and I should finally be able to do all of this with
just hot key combinations, and I should then finally be able to walk
away from the Downloader completely.
