we newbies need more of this detailed and comparing different ways of doing
things. sometimes just an answer is ok, but to really understand, a
detailed answer like this is very helpful. this should be added to the
"manual".
i never received TJ's email---i just saw it from Werner's reply... maybe i'm
missing lots of emails..
