but I dont understand.
Are you saying that I have to write the code for the whole chart for each
different way I want to view achart and save it as an indicator?
Souns rather long winded and its hard enough to learn the code for the
analysis stuff without having to hand code a chart format too.
I have not seen a chart program that does not let one just click a couple
of buttons to either save a template or load one.

You can customize charts and save the template as an indicator. This will
allow you to code everything you want without using preferences.
Example:
Template #1: Bar Charts
Template #2: Line Charts
etc
