Or add
a multimonitor Card...either process is fairly simple and you will wonder how
you ever lived with just one monitor before....

    Hi D,

Thanks for the reply. I am definitely no
expert, but I think that Remote Desktop actually
does the opposite of what I want to do - rather than see both
computers on one screen, I would like to stretch the desktop of
one computer across both screens. Right now, they are networked
together but neither is equipped for multiple monitors, and I was
wondering what my options are for extending the desktop via the network
connection. I think the software you pointed out below looks like a pretty
good solution - cheap and easy  : - )  Would you happen to
know if there are other ways? Thanks again!

PS - Re the chair - I think I would fear for
society knowing that you are out there somewhere at the controls
of a piece of equipment like that    : - )   How
would this affect civilization as we know it?

Your concerned friend Steve   : -
    )

an older Dell P3 1ghz machine and a Dell D400 Latitiude laptop which I can
also hook up via a wireless connection. That's all handled by a Nexland
Turbo 800 Pro router that handles a crappy Adelphia cable modem and a DSL
connection that I had to get cause the cable service is so
      bad.

switch from one machine to the other. I tend to run only long or
unattended jobs on the old Dell so I don't need much in the way of a
      monitor on that machine.

that's what its called) but it didn't "take" so I backed off and I haven't
persued it  but that would be the better way to go IMHO as you could
have a small window on your monitor that would show what's happening on
the other machine(s).  Its free and built in so those are big
plusses. If only I could get it to work.  8-).

      <FONT face=Arial
color=#0000ff size=2>As for the laptop - I don't have it on all the time
and don't really need a fourth monitor right now as the 3 - 21" running at
1600x1200 give me plenty of screen real estate. Plus the resolution on the
laptop is pretty limited so its value as a monitor would be
      small.

      <FONT face=Arial
color=#0000ff size=2>As for your situation if you want to use both

can get it to work or they make KVM's for sharing one keyboard/video/mouse

        Hi D,

I saved this post from a while back. Right
now, I have 2 computers networked together, and I think I am
ready to implement some means of expanding my desktop so I will be
able to use both monitors off of 1 computer. It sounds like
you have a pretty good setup, so I would be interested in hearing your
thoughts on doing this via hardware vs. software, as well as any
recommendations you might have to offer. Thank you very
        much!

        Steve
