What I have done is wait until I get the next email 
so that the doubtful email has emails either side in time, (or just re-oder by 
subject, then highlighted the email above (i.e opened), then moved the cursor to 
the email below and then while holding down the shift key opened the email 
below.  Now you have three emails highlighted.  I delete all three and 
then go to the delete folder and retrieve the two good ones.
 
Clumsy but I understand it.
