I agree, for some reason I find it more useful when windows open exactly how they were when closed, why don't you make a suggestion to TJ. suggest@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
There is always the dilemma that some users find a feature helpful and others find it a hindrance and the only way to solve it is to add yet another option.
There maybe times that within a single layout you require one window to open at the exact same position as you left it with 1 year of daily data visible and a second window to open at the hard right edge with the default number of quotations visible. It would be nice to flag a save for individual windows maybe by way of an addition to the windows right click menu items.

ps. maybe the reason I prefer layout windows to open with exactly the same number of visual quotation and positioning as it was when closed is connected to pattern recognition. I'm constantly visually scanning for patterns and if the number of visual bars in a window automatically changes the next time its opened then it kind of throws you off. If you are constantly opening and closing differentlayouts throughout the day you really want the option to save EVERYTHING, like a snapshot.

When you open AmiBroker or open a saved layout the default number of
quotations is used and the position is always at the far right of the
chart.
