TrueImage will let you put 1 or more partitions into a
single back up file. So you could put backups of drive C,
D, and F into a single backup file. Of course, that back up
image has to be stored on a partition ofther than C, D, or
F.

When you restore from such an image file, you can choose
whether to restore all, some or just 1 of the partitions.
So in the above example, one could choose to just restore
drive F.

I understand, although I have not tried this, that you can
restore individual files or folders if you do not need to
restore a full partition.

However, the smallest unit TrueImage can back up is a
partition. You can not back up just a few folders from a
partition. It is all or nothing when backing up a
partition.

That is one reason I use xxCopy in addition to TrueImage.
For my window's partition, I know I would want to restore
all of it, I use TrueImage.

For my data, I know I will often just want to restore part
of it (ie, just a folder or two). So I use xxCopy to back
up my data drive (D in my case).

Actually C and D are partitions on the same physical hard
disk. The only reason split the drive into two partitions
was to be able to back up and restore the Windows stuff
separately from the data stuff.
