1. Amibroker has free upgrades for 5 levels. Current release is 4.50... so
you would get free upgrads to release 5.0.... that probably 12 to 18 months.
Future upgrade will cost something ... don't know what.... but this
operation is run very reasonably with excellent support.
2. Trendlines, S/R lines .. YES
3. Basic (EOD) version works with EOD data. (May handle some intraday
periods ... not sure .. but not a good choice for real time work. $199
version is for real time trading. If you trade RT then you need this
version.

5. Windows 98 - yes ... but newer window version are much more robust and
reliable. (Not related to Amibroker.. just facts about Windows)
6. Live quotes ... you get what you pay for. You can interface with
Quotetracker and use data coming thru that system. QT has some free RT data.
Your broker may also be a data provider for QT ... Most QT data does not
have any history ... just data that you collect while on line. My Track may
be reasonable if you need just a few quotes.
7. eSignal is major RT data provider --- $75 +
Suggest you investgate these options to make sure they do what you want
