Yes I found out that I didn't have the automatic import in Amiquote checked.
It appears that if you have "local data storage" enabled in File->Database Settings and QT as source it will still update through QT and accept imports from AmiQuote.
So why would we have to use (local) as the source for AmiQuote updates?

Not necesarilly. You can go to File->Database Settings. Switch "Source" to "(local)", run AMiQuote then,
and switch back (after importing) to QT.
