Is there not some way that you could have the Amibroker.net/boards email
new messages to a list? Isn't that the missing piece?

Yes that's real problem.
Some alternative is available already : message boards at
http://www.amibroker.net/boards but significant number of people
(including) me prefer mailing lists.
Another idea is to write program that will archive attachments
somehow/somewhere.
Third idea is to move AmiBroker list to some other place , but I don't
know where yet.
