Ron,

>>I welcome any and all information that will
help me understand what I should do here.  It appears that I need to keep
the historical and the daily download data in >>separate folders. Is this
correct?   I only use EOD data, does this mean that I need to let
Amiquote go ahead and run in historical mode every day that I

You really do not have to keep separate databases for
historical and current information.

Here is how I use Yahoo quotes, call it a daily routine.
I don't have a very large database, so this works for me.  You might want
to skip some steps
if you are running a very large database.  The following
times refer to USA, CDT.

1.  About 3:30 pm, I load Amiquote(AQ) and
Amibroker(AB).  I select Yahoo <FONT
color=#ff0000>Current in AQ and then Tools>Get
tickers from AB.  AQ
then loads the symbols. Make sure the
Automatic Import box is checked in AQ.  Click the green arrow and wait
until AQ
    shows that quotes have been
imported.

2.  I now proceed to do a quick and dirty on whatever it
is I normally do.  Understand that many symbols may be missing quotes or
may be
inaccurate.  I do this to get a jump
on the next day's work and will do a better job after historic quotes become
available.

3.  About 6:00 am, I load AQ and AB.I select Yahoo
Historical in AQ and then
Tools>Get tickers from AB.  AQ
then loads the symbols. Make sure the
Automatic Import box is checked in AQ.  I then
use the AQ Date windows and ask AQ to
     download
the previous day's historic data. Click the green arrow and wait
until AQ  shows that quotes have been
imported.  The prior
     current quotes are overwritten.

4.  I now have an updated EOD database.

5.  I use the AB purify function to ensure that no symbol has been
missed in the last day's download.  If anything shows up in purify, I check
and get
    it corrected.

6.  I now have a fully updated EOD database.

7.  I proceed to prepare for the day's trading.

8.  Weekly, I repeat step 3-5, except that I download the last 10 days
of Historic data to pickup any data
corrections that the data provider may have
    implemented.

This works well for me as I only have to refine my work in the am to be
prepared for trading.

One other thing.  In AB, go to Tools>Preferences>Data>Default
database path>Pick and enter the database you want to
have active on startup.

Hope this help

Regards,

Tony
