Ron,

I don't use Bollinger bands in any of my trading systems.  I just 
mentioned Bollinger's bandwidth as an possible approach to detect 
low volitility in an equity as a prelude to a breakout.

The only channels I use are those that might be created by trending 
stocks.  I then play the retracements to the lower channel line for 
a swing trade( visa-versa for downtrending stocks).
