Have you sent a query direct to TJ about this? He does not always read every
email in the group.

Subject: [amibroker] Re: Color coding of bars
no offense, Jayson, I really appreciate answers, but were my posts so
difficult to understand?
If preferences/charting/candlesticks is set to none, the body of
_every_ candle gets filled and one is no longer able to distinguish
filled from hollow candles. Of course, in the mode
"preferences/charting/candlesticks=none" up-/downcandles could be
distinguished by giving them different colors, but then the color
information is used for distinguishing up/down-candles and cannot
simultaneously be used for other things such as indicating a trend.
I've attached a picture how one of my color coders looks unter Metastock:
Notice that:
(1) the way how up-/downcandles are distinguished is not the color, but
the fact whether or not they are filled. Upcandles are always hollow,
ie. the body is filled in the background color, downcandles are always
filled.
(2) separately and independent of (1), no matter whether a candle is an
upcandle or downcandle, the individual candle color can be set to
indicate trends or other technical criteria.
It appears to me that it is NOT possible to reproduce my Metastock color
coder with Amibroker. With the code I posted in msg. 40704, it is
possible to change the color of the candle outline in AFL; the candle
body is always drawn in the color specified in preferences/colors, when
the "preferences/charting/candlesticks=body outline and shadows". Only
the latter mode would be equivalent to Metastock, the other modes would
be a loss of information, hence being inferior. I also proposed a
solution in msg. 40706, probably another another variable would need to
be introduced, e.g. GraphNCandleBodyColor.
I noticed that Thomasz Janecko was posting in this group today, and if
he has time, I'd appreciate a comment from him regarding this issue, as
possibly only he can tell whether or not the current conceptual design
of Amibroker allows to reproduce a color coder exactly as the one in the
screenshot attached below. If it is not possible, I'd like to know
whether he would be willing to implement my proposed solution (so that
I'm not forced to start an open-source charting project; the ability to
color code as in Metastock is one of the killer criteria for me).
