No, you do not
need a jack or to plug into anything.  The phone works over the
airwaves.  You just need to make sure your area has digital service, not
analog service over the phone airwaves.  So you can trade while sitting in
the park somewhere !

  Cheap phone brokers?
Thanks very much Rick - So I would need to plug the
cell phone into a digital jack in order to use the net? My area is wired for
ISDN I believe - I am guessing that should work because I know that people who
have a T1 sometimes use an ISDN backup?

  Steve

PS - Would I need a seprate ISP for this? Does VZ offer a
  package deal of some kind?

    You could get
the basic smallest plan, maybe $25/month depending on vendor.  Make
sure to ask if your office is in a digital area or the internet part won't
    work.
    <FONT color=#000080

    Logging on to
trade means simply pressing a button to log on to the internet, scrolling
thru some menu options which lead you to your broker and sign in by pressing
the buttons on the cell phone to enter userid and password.  Then there
will be prompts to lead you thru the trade.  It won't be fast but it
    will get done.

    If you go to
a cell phone store, they could demo a phone for you.  I use
    Verizon.

    BTW my vendor
(Fidelity) let's me buy/sell securities via cell phone but won't
let me sell short via cell phone.  No idea why.

Thank you Rick - believe it or not, I have never found
that I needed a cell phone, and so  I have never actually even
USED one yet. Could you possibly expand a little on how a cell phone
internet connection would work, how to get one,  and how much it
      would cost? Thanks again!

        Do you
have a digital phone?  You may be able to connect to the web and
place orders via the web thru your cell phone.  Lot's of brokers
support this at regular comm. rates.

          [amibroker] Cheap phone brokers?
          Hi All,

I asked this question about a year or so ago - just
wondering if anyone has any updated info. I am interested in possibly
placing some trades by phone from work - does anyone know of a cheap
broker that doesn't charge 2-3 times more for a phone order than an
          internet order? Thanks very much!
