[amibroker] string to number function in JScript or AB.

Hi,

Has anyone known/written a function in AB or Jscript which will take 
in numerical string and convert it to actual number.  I have a 
Jscript which reads in AB date formats (eg. 1011023) from a file; 
however this is read in as a string object.  When I passed it to AB 
and compare it to DateNum() array.  Type is mismatched.   Again, a 
Jscript method/function would be appreciated.  TIA
