Greetings Tony,
if I rememember correctly, this was asked once before and Tomasz said that
thick lines were plotted by putting an additional pixel beside the origonal.
So it will look thick if versical, and have no effect when horizontal.
Something to do with limitations in the microsloth drawing routines, I think.
