Jayson,

The conversation has moved on a little from the original topic.
If you want to perform indepth studies of particular tickers (which take months and years to built up), where you have many custom indicators against a particular ticker (designed for that ticker, Parameters, Colors, Line thickness etc etc etc), this is currently not an intuitive process or easy thing to maintain in AB. It's really nice to have the ability to go back to a ticker and know that it is going to have all the indicators exactly how you left them last time.
Now obviously people work in different ways and if you do and your happy with current functionality then fine but this is something that has been really difficult to work with and i've tried. Even with layouts it still is a messy process, it all needs to be linked to the ticker (as a option of course).
I think it is always in Tomaszs' interest to hear about the ways people need to work with charts...whether he agrees or not or decides to do anything about it is something entirely different.

Regards,
William Peters.

There are certainly two sides to each coin. I normally have 3 to 4 charts
open in real time at any given moment. I find it comforting to know that
when I make a change that it is reflected across all my open charts. It is
too easy to get subtracted and find that I have forgotten to change one
chart. If my application uses two different views I can always copy paste a
second custom indicator and adjust parameters there. I think once Tomasz
solves the problem that began this discussion (two custom indicators both
using RSI) and allows us to independently adjust the two custom indicators
that we will have a superior tool to the MS approach.

To add to the discussion:

I've often felt the need for the type of fuctionality that Bob speaks about.
It's the way that I work with charting and tickers, by setting up indicators
that are customised (parameters are slightly different) to a particular
stock(ticker) and applying those against that ticker. At the moment each
time I have to create a new indicator and from a users POV this is a little
awkward and unweildly to maintain, but not only that there is the problem
that the DISPLAY of indicators are not ticker specific so you are required
to have all those indicators open while viewing a ticker where you are only
really interested in viewing the indicators for that stock. This is the way
I need to work and found that this functionality which is in MS is the ONLY
thing I miss greatly in Amibroker.

William Peters.

Bob,

No it has nothing to do with liking or disliking inheritance.
It is about usability and quick operation in real time mode.
I don't like the fact that when I have 8 windows open in Real Time
and want to change parameter for ALL open windows
I have to do this EIGHT times in MS while I need
only ONE change in AmiBroker.

Best regards,
Tomasz Janeczko
