Hi Rick and everybody else considering eSignal,
I'm currently subscribed to eSignal and this is what you can do:
If you have a 50 symbol subscription, than you can in RT scan 50
symbols. (E.g. scan every min or 5 min for your entry signals). For
backtesting purposes, you can download as many symbols as you like,
but you cannot scan them all RT at the same time.
If 50 is not enough for you for scanning RT, eSignal will be able to
offer a considerable discount to their 500 subscription if you "trade
up" (as they call it) from a competative service:
http://www.esignal.com/esignal/specials/default.asp
I pay $88 p.m. till end of year for 500 symbols. Makes it worthwhile
to subscribe to a cheap competitor, wait for a month till you have
your creditcard invoice and then call eSignal. (You have to call them
for this offer; if English is not your first language, this may be a
problem to some.)
If you are planning to follow highly active stocks only, mind you,
this will take up a lot of your computer's resources at prime market
hours. My 700 MHz is happy till appr. 150 - 200.
The 500 subscription also allows you to subscribe to futures,
currencies etc.
