This is a listing of  what Yahoo considers 
"major" indices.  Yahoo carries many more, but it is necessary to use their 
Global Symbol Lookup function (<A 
href="">http://finance.yahoo.com/l), if thesymbol 
is not known.  For example, enter gold/index and not only is 
^XAU found, but also ^GOX and ^HUI.

very comprehensive, hence I suggest, you just use the iShares or ML Sector 
Holders symbols instead of the few indexes yhoo provides. These ETF's
