Attached are 3 charts of the DOW Industrials.
In each of the charts I used one of my Fourier
Strategy
applications to (at the end of the year) "optimize"
the
period of two Fourier cycles and a Linear
Regression
curve for maximum return.
Then I allowed the application to PROJECT
prices
for the next 52 weeks.
One chart analysis ends 12/31/06, and
one chart analysis ends 12/31/07, and
one chart analysis ends 12/31/08.
This approach may not provide good price levels
of
projection but typically is excellent for showing
direction.
The method used is very reliable insofar a
showing
the direction of trading in the near 2 or 3
weeks
of time. These far time projections are
interesting
but somewhat unreliable.
