Here’s an idea for you. There was an article in Ludwig Von Mise
Institute a couple months ago where it was postulated that the greatest triumphs
of government are the greatest defeats. Example, the great US road systems.
Without those great socialist endeavors, which helped create great wealth, what
would the US transportation system look like today? More rail? More efficient
and less cars? But we will never know because government decided that the US
needed the roads. Roads that incentivized more cars, greater pollution and so on.
Now, the government, courtesy of the Ralph Naders, decided safety was the
greatest goal….cars that provide greater safety….larger heavier cars…..and no
compressed gas (at least prohibited by onerous regulation). I guess the
question boils down to ‘evolution’ or ‘omnipotent government predestination’?
Hey, but what do you expect when the government pushed banks to make loans in
places where collateral would diminish and to people who are least able to
afford to repay them. Brilliant, simply brilliant.
To get back to the original comment posed by Ben, why am I not
surprised that compressed air technology is not in the US? First and foremost,
government. Only secondarily, can you say it’s because of the evil manufacturers
(although they aren’t the sharpest knives in the drawer IMO). The ball simply
isn’t in their court as yet. JMHO

And the more we allow tanks on the road like the hummer, the more
we will not have lighter more cost and fuel efficient cars on the road.
Its all part of the downward spiral.
To help get lighter more efficient cars on the road taking safety
concerns into consideration, all trucks or vehicles weighing more than a
certain amount should be constrained to only drive in 1 lane.
This law does exists in some states for trucks I believe, but no
doubt not enforced.
G-d forbid we should have an intelligent & orderly society,
that would be counter productive to business, be anti-american & anti-capitalism
and against free markets.

I’d feel safe riding around in that golf
cart with a tin can bent around it (NOT) when I look up at the stoplight to a
Hummer. That thing makes the Corvair look like a Sherman tank. Do
you know how to spell Ralph Nader? My understanding is the US standards
for safety inhibit if not prohibit the compressed gas technologies.

This is the same company who,
a few months back, came out with a car that costs only $2,500.00 new
(but it's not available in the US, why does that not
surprise me?).
A non polluting
vehicle that eliminates the reason to buy gasoline from off shore companies.
How bad is that?
AMAZING AIR
CAR!
[See the attached file]
The Compressed
Air Car developed by Motor Development International (MDI) Founder Guy Negre
might be the best thing to have happened to the motor engine in years.
The $12,700 CityCAT, one of the planned Air Car models, can hit 68 mph and
has a range of 125 miles. It will take only a few minutes for the CityCAT to
refuel at gas stations equipped with custom air compressor units. MDI says it
should cost only around $2 to fill the car up with 340 liters of air!
The Air Car will be starting production relatively soon, thanks to India's
TATA Motors. Forget corn! There's fuel, there's renewable fuel, and then
there's user-renewable fuel! What can be better than air?
Check it out yourself and see - What A Cool Car! Enjoy! :)
