I am perplexed.

First, several (read three) of the RT group take offense to the relevancy of Ira's post.

Then, its content, rather than its relevancy becomes the subject of discussion.

I propose a resolution for the benefit of RT.

Henceforth, each of us should ignore Ira's controversial posting, unless we think it to be of value, in which case, those persons who think it to be of value should keep their opinions of value to themselves.

60 years ago they didn't have the microwave.....so instead of taking 90 seconds to prepare lunch, they had to walk down to the wood yard, buy some wood and then take it back home to light the furnace.  Once that was done, and you had opened the windows to let the smoke out of the house, even though it was ZERO degrees outside due to it being winter, we could then place the item in the oven and let it cook, probably only 10 minutes. But wait...this product never existed back then...ooops...we have to actually make it. So its back to the shop to buy some flour, some milk and some ham.  We then have to make the bread, rolling the dough and cooking it in the oven first.  While that is cooking we can proceed to make the cheese( as we can't afford to buy the real stuff). Luckily the ham is easy and we can just slice some as we please.  So the bread is now ready and cooled, we can add the cheese and ham and voila....we have our lunch.  Ohh.....you say its dinner time already?  L

Hey Tony,

I Hope you (and other subscribers) found the chart I sent out the other week useful and profitable.  The S&P has now clearly broken the 50% fan line and is now attempting to rally back towards it.  So in theory, this should be an opportunity to sell again in time.  This is fairly big picture stuff though.

Cheers,

Adrian

Ps that's a really unusual last name you have.  Have you ever researched the history on it to see where it originated from?

Sorry, but NO, Ira is NOT entitled to speak his peace on matters off topic to this list.

As to the idea of inflation being related to trading .. that is NOT what this was about ... it would not have been labeled as "spam" if it had been a real attempt to address a trading topic.

For those that would try to defend it, please give me ONE, one single trade you have made or considered based on his post (not based on the fact we are in the start of a major of inflationary cycle but on the content of this supposed enlightening post) and how something specific in his post helped you target that trade.

These are the things this list is for.  Not an outlet for juvenile and senile outbursts.

I Started college in the spring of 1950.  I got $110 a month from the GI bill and had no problem making ends meet with rent, food (hashed at a sorority), gas, a car and going out on dates.   If you don't believe what inflation can do compare some of these prices from a real menu of the 1950s.  The Korean and Vietnam wars started the escalation and now Iraq and Afghanistan will start the next set of inflation numbers.  The government hasn't helped with its policies as to the financial markets, interest rates and the outrageous printing of money.  It will be interesting to see what happens next.   It ain't going to be pretty.

Ira

If any of you have doubt about what we  paid for a coke and a sandwich at Woolworths in the 1950's, here's proof of the era we lived........and it was a GREAT ERA to live ...

And Gas..25 cents/Gallon!!!

And of course, We had no money!!!
