Hi Boater,
As I’ve said previously Boater..he has an agenda..although
no one really knows what it is.
YES..prices go up over time....and amazingly, we pay more now
for goods than we did in 1950...mindblowing!
As Ira has an extremely distorted and biased viewpoint, looking
at only one side of the equation, perhaps he could also do some research to
make whatever his agenda might be, a more balanced viewpoint, by presenting the
other side of the equation.
Ira...could you show us how much wages have increased over that
time.
Show us how much productivity has improved.
Show us how many magnitudes our general standards of living have
improved, which is far more complex than looking at milk prices now and in
1950.
Of course, not only must you show how much prices have increased,
which is about all you have done, you must also show us all the things that
have gone down in price. You send your emails every day through your
computer and over the internet, to spread your gospel. What did you use
back in 1950 when you were telling people how much things had increased since
the 1920’s? Perhaps you might like to provide a plot of the average
number of weeks earnings it takes to buy a typical motor vehicle since 1950.
Ira, I think after you present this evidence, we will all see a
much more balanced side to the equation.
I do understand how stressful it must be for you, knowing prices
keep increasing, but unfortunately that will probably not change in your
lifetime, and it’s one of the stresses of life you will have to learn to
deal with. But as people have pointed out before, it has absolutely
NOTHING to do with trading, and this Yahoogroup list is all about trading idea’s
or views of the market, or informing people of a really interesting article
they have come across.
Hopefully the moderator can spell it out more clearly than I.
Regards,
Adrian

I am sorry but I really must complain to the moderator about this
There is absolutely nothing about trading or of any value for trading in this
crap. It appears to be a deliberate attempt to abuse the subscribers of
this list and to do so in a way calculated to be an open challange to the
subscribers and moderator of this list. Even the topic screams that it is
deliberate spam. The attachment triggers both my anti-virii and firewall
so I suspect it is malicious also.
I am amazed and insulted that any adult would abuse us in this way.

I Started college in the
spring of 1950. I got $110 a month from the GI bill and had no problem
making ends meet with rent, food (hashed at a sorority), gas, a car and going
out on dates. If you don't believe what inflation can do compare
some of these prices from a real menu of the 1950s. The Korean and
Vietnam wars started the escalation and now Iraq and Afghanistan will start the
next set of inflation numbers. The government hasn't helped with its
policies as to the financial markets, interest rates and the outrageous
printing of money. It will be interesting to see what happens
next. It ain't going to be pretty.

If any of you have doubt
about what we paid for a coke and a sandwich at Woolworths in the 1950's,
here's proof of the era we lived........and it was a GREAT ERA to live ...
