A very good point and everyone should be keenly aware that anything they
pull of another web site will be their legal responsibility for
distribution of that content here or anywhere else. Neither myself
nor the rest of us have any control over such distribution beyond this
warning to be cautious about content protections at the original
site.

You might like to add to your
new policy that it is illegal to post copyrighted material without
express written permission and that would include the content of
essentially all commercial web sites and newsletters.
There is a "fair use" exception, which is nicely described
at:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use
Generally, it is safe to copy a paragraph or two to give the reader an
idea of the content and then include a link to the web site. It is almost
always a violation to post the complete article. Many websites have
specific notations in each article. Here is the one from Dow Jones:
- DOW JONES REPRINTS This copy is for your personal, non-commercial use
only. To order presentation-ready copies for distribution to your
colleagues, clients or customers, use the Order Reprints tool at the
bottom of any article or visit:
www.djreprints.com.
"Yahoo Groups" also has policies on this topic:
- # You may not post content which infringes the intellectual property,
privacy or other rights of third parties.
- # You cannot re-post or re-transmit content that belongs to another
user without that user's permission. A Groups owner or moderator (or any
other user) cannot re-post or re-transmit Groups content to any other
site unless the person has the explicit permission of every group member
whose content is being re-posted or re-transmitted.

The poll has not yet run its
course but the results seem
insured. People want to allow pasting from other web sites by a
margin of more than 2/1. The actual vote results will be
automatically mailed to the list once the poll closes on April
24. Barring a major change in the voting, we will change the policy
to what you want immediately and that new policy will simply be
this.
You can paste from web sites but do so within reason as to length of
the post. Also, do not paste anything of a political nature unless
there is an absolute direct tie between the information and the
markets. Not an opinion of what may happen if something else
happens
but what *will* happen. In this way, we avoid political views being
expressed while clothed in market analysis. Provide the source and
url where you got the information and any listed restrictions on the
use of that information.
I want to thank everyone for participating in the poll and for your
patience while we worked this out. I don't agree with this decision
but it is your list and we'll run it how you want it run.
Great weekend to all,
