GLD is the hedge that you would short against long positions on gold shares.
GDX is the Gold Miners ......shares..........ETF.
On this last move up price was led by bullion......divergent from "normal" expectation where "shares"
lead bullion.

I've been trading GLD - buying on dips and selling on peaks. Recently
I was planning to hedge my position with a collar or some puts - (but
of course was too busy and waited too long.) My question is what stock
or ETF options are available on gold related investments? I think GLD
has no options. I don't want to do futures options. Are there
commodity related options or should I buy puts on NEM or ABX to hedge
GLD? Any advice/opinion would be appreciated.
