Bob,
Agree that the list has to be protected from
spammers and scammers but Jim White, Ira, and Clyde hardly fall into this
catalog. All have shown a willingness to share thought provoking ideas
based on their considerable knowledge and experience - the kind of posts that
have kept the list alive as low volatility caused decreased participation over
the last few years. I feel whatever mention of their product or
service that has been attached to their posts is
transparent and secondary to the ideas being shared. One can elect
to go to their web sites or contact them - or not. Its not as if they
are trolling the list to suck in newbies. I have never
bought anything from these three gentlemen but I have gained an insight or two
on pivot trading from the free descriptions of his methods on Jim
White's site and I have incorporated Clyde Lee's Length Of Swing into my
trading when he made it available for free several years ago. And
Ira's repeated, gentle advice to reconsider obviously ill considered,
impulsive trading ideas has, I suspect, saved a few newbie pocketbooks - and
always with the humility of "one man's opinion." Simply put, these guys
and a few like them, are the backbone of Realtraders. As anyone who
has actually achieved success in the markets knows, it usually
takes years to achieve consistent profits and often, a helping hand from those
who have and are willing to share their ideas and experience.
Let's be careful not to kill the list by impuning the motives of our most
valuable contributors.
I am sure that your position as list
moderator is, for the most part, a thankless job. I don't doubt your
intent to protect the list but as I think is now apparent, many long time
list members, myself included, feel you have overstepped your role
on this occasion.
Regards,
Jim Alvis
