I have
purchased memory sticks in the past that where defective. This is especially true with cheaper,
aftermarket memory. Try removing
the old stick and installing the new ones in those slots. If the problem still exists, I would
take them back to the dealer and exchange them (most reputable dealers will do
an exchange). If the problem goes
away, install the old memory in the remaining slots. If the problem comes back, it is a compatibility issue and
you may not be able to run the two types together. Now you have an excuse to buy another pair of 512 sticks and
get 2g. {;-)
Good luck
and good trading,
Ray
