Re: [RT] off-topic - Google compute

The Stanford project Google Compute is supporting is probably a
very worthy cause, but this program and others like SETI @home
permits outsider access to your computer and its contents -- probably
not a new experience to us Microsoft users, though ;)

Do not lightly offer up free access to your hard disk. Consider
limiting it to the family internet box where no confidential information
is kept.

Subject: [RT] off-topic - Google compute

http://toolbar.google.com/dc/faq_dc.html

I have been running their toolbar for IE (v5.5 and v6 under Win98,
WinNT4 and WinXP) for months and works great (been a Google user for
many yeats). I recently installed the "Google compute" thing as well.

The "Google compute" projecr is donating idle CPU time to worthy causes
(read FAQ link above for details) and considering that traders usually
have latest technology personal computers, they can be put in good use.
