The short
answer is that you'll need to set up a web query to
Yahoo!
(for
example) and download the history as needed for each
stock.
This can
probably be made to work for up to 100/so issues, but
after
that it
will likely become unwieldy. If you want to track, say 5,000
stocks
you
really will likely be better off using one of the services
mentioned.

class=894455619-21122003>Maintaining a stock database can be a pain, especially
since Yahoo! seems
to have
quit split-adjusting its historical data. If you really want to keep
track
of a few
thousand stocks, you might find it easier to put the data into
something
like
Access(tm), or MySQL, and then run queries using VBA etc. and
importing
the
result into Excel. It will be a lot of work to get it
right.
