I had significant positions in China stocks until a few weeks ago. The
stocks I owned were all hefty dividend payers ... hefty by my 5%+ standards,
not by the SP500 standard of a paltry 1.7%+-. These included GSH, PTR, and
SNP. I felt that they were a good play on an eventual rise in the Renimbi
which is currently fixed to the US$. Rightly or wrongly, I unloaded the lot
when they went parabolic and the gains exceeded 4 years average dividends.
My currency hedges are now being placed in the futures markets. I continue
to hold large positions in Canadian Royalty Trusts for dual investment in
Natural Gas and in Canadian Dollar. They are now in early stages of going
parabolic and, if overdone, I will liquidate those too.
