Don't know about eSignal but the folks at DTNiq
discouraged me from moving TS2000i from DTN satellite to DTNiq. The
problem is not with DTNiq. As it was explained to me, the main problem is
that Tradestation has been unwilling to make the programming changes that would
permit TS2Ki to use the much faster Ethernet data interface rather than the
present serial interface. Even with a fast Digi serial interface card with
128k RAM, TS2Ki (via satellite) can fall 2 to 4 seconds behind PATS quotes
over the internet in high volume market conditions. Maybe some of the
third party, handshake software interfaces can extend the life of TS2Ki as
an effective intraday trading platform, but since I like to separate my data
vendor and brokerage arrangements (no TS7), my future seems likely to
include a program like Fibonacci Trader or Ensign that supports the
Ethernet interface. The ability to shift maintenance of the data
server function to the data vendor seems ideal, as long as one has a
stable broadband connection, the vendor's servers are reliable and provide the
amount of data you need. DTN satellite has been rock solid - set it and
forget it - in the past, much more reliable than anything over the net.
Now, for those who can access both cable broadband and DSL, a device like the
Nexland Pro 800 router that has an instant fall over if one feed is lost, may
approximate the stability of satellite - no personal experience yet.
Perhaps others would care to share their observations and
knowledge.
Regards,
Jim Alvis

be able to better serve global users. We'll be creating a section on
