With such a short maturity, I think you are going to get creamed on the
spread or commissions or both. Much lower yield, but Treasury Direct is
frictionless and they will direct debit/credit via ACH so very clean. Also,
they will now accept a letter instruction to sell treasuries in account, get
5 bids, and clear at best bid.

Another avenue would be to look into buying preferred shares in some of the
closed end bond funds ... these are not the usual preferred but are short
term monies used to increase leverage in CEF's. www.etfconnect.com is a
great source of info on CEF's. Preferreds are often available directly from
the bond fund without a broker.

Best deal around right now is Interactive Broker Notes yielding 8% with term
of 15 months callable in 3 ... they've been calling in 3 months for a couple
of years now. However, they don't offer them unless you have an account with
them and meet their income and asset criteria. Naturally, one must do proper
due diligence in reading the financials which accompany the note offering.

That's about all I can suggest.

Earl

and risk capital loss from interest rate flucuations. We have another
interest rate exposure in our core positions.

looking for exactly? I thought when we bought our last bonds that we simply
hit the offer of the spread. I guess that is wrong...?

Securities". I'm guess we just bought these out of Davenports inventory so
they got both the spread and commission?
