Hi JohnO,
A couple of years ago I was a VectorVest user, we even started a
VectorVest Usergroup in Belgium (only 10-15 members).
But I became disappointed because of the lack of service. It was very
rare that they repsonded to emails.
Also from time to time we (myself or other members from the VV Usergroup)
discovered some errors in the database.
I understand that errors are normal, a database that is 100% correct does
not exist.
But I have a problem when they do not want to recognize those problems,
or even warn you in advance.
An example: in the backtesting part of VV there was an error in the
calculations on the short side.
We mentioned that to VV, and they replied that they knew that problem and
it will be fixed in one of the next releases.
Well my opinion is that they should inform there users in advance of such
important problems !
People use VV with real money !!
It is a pity because VV has a lot of potential, but VV has to change his
management syle.
I am now a happy user of HGSI
(www.highgrowthstock.com)
which is a more complete database (more then 150 datafields, fundamental
and technical) that you can sort, filter, screen etc... as you like.
HGSI does not have a backtesting capability (in my opinion the
backtesting in VV is not realistic), but you can very easily export to
Excel (which is a big problem with VV).
The support from HGSI is unbelievable good, fast, complete, they do care
about what customers tell them.
They listen to what customers want and they change things in the software
after asking.
I would suggest comparing VV with HGSI before taking a decision (price is
similar).
