I thought you might like that article
Mark....:)
There are two types of forecasters....those who
don't know and those who don't know they don't know. I'm a recovering
member of the latter group and therefore have no idea on how much the tax plan
will help. However we do know what "didn't" work in the last post-bubble
period so it's hard to make a sensible, logical argument that it won't help some
or that it will do any harm. But in my view anything that gives more money
back to the people who earn it is a good thing, and it sure beats the policies
being proposed by the sorry-seven-Hoover-wannabes running for president in
2004.
Is the plan perfect? Nope. Does it
have everything originally proposed? Nope. Are we spending too
much? Of course, and have been for decades. But show me the votes in
the Senate to cut spending or pass much of anything that is comprehensive or
makes more sense than less.
Everyone is looking for a quick fix in a
post-bubble period where there is no such thing. I don't credit/blame
clinton for the bubble or the popping of the bubble nor do I blame Bush for the
mess he inherited. And I won't give him much credit if things turn
around during his tenure or blame him for every bump in the road. I also
suspect there will be threads like this one well into the next decade as people
credit their ideology/blame the opposing ideology for everything good or bad
that happens when in fact it's just a small piece of a much bigger
puzzle.
When you have one drink too many on a Friday
night you'll feel the affects the following day but be fine by Sunday
morning. We drank until we passed out in the late 90's and it's going to
take a lot longer than a few years to fully recover - regardless of
ideology.
