Let's see ... could these two messages mean "I have something to
sell youbut can't do it on the list."? Otherwise, wouldn't they have
    added to thediscussion?Earl,

You are probably correct.  However, I don't see
anything wrong with someone wanting to help another and
possibly be compensated for it.  Trading is the only business
I can recall that people seem to think they should be able to get all the
knowledge, experience, and research from someone for free.
If you open a KFC resturant, do you think Colonel Sanders is going to give
you the 11 secret herbs and spices recipe for free?  The fair and
reasonable approach to the issue you address is that people can
post to the list what they feel comfortable about posting for free. If it is
proprietary research or market knowledge, they should be allowed to be
compensated.  On the other hand, it would probably have been
smarter to contact the potentential student directly rather than post a
notice to the list. This means that if someone asks for help, they shouldn't
get all worked up id someone contacts them privately and offers to help
(some oversensitive types may scream "SPAM"). If everyone maintains a
fair and open mind, everyone should have a chance to benefit.

    Regards,

    Norman
