I thought Afghanistan was going to be our next Viet Nam?  If Iraq
goes a week longer will it be Viet Nam?  Two weeks?  How long does
it have to go before it becomes Viet Nam?  If a reporterette who was
reporting on the budget "crisis" last month and the child care "crisis" the
month before that now comes out and says the 7-day old war isn't going well,
  what's that worth?

I fear Iraq will be the dusty and sandy side of the Viet Nam
  coin.

    May Last Months-WP Story 9243 (H/, G/DEF, G/USG, N/DJN, N/DJRT, N/DJWR,
    N/CMD, N/DJWI, N/GEN...)   NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--Some senior U.S.
military officers are now convinced that the Iraq war will last months
and will require considerably more combat power than is now on hand
there and in Kuwait, The Washington Post reported on its Web site
Wednesday.   The weather, the long and insecure supply lines, and
an enemy that refuses to give up has led to a broad reassessment of U.S.
military expectations and timelines by some top generals, the report
said.   Some generals even see the potential threat of a drawn-out
fight that sucks in more U.S. forces, the report said.   The
report also quoted another unnamed senior general who dismissed this
assessment as too pessimistic. He said that, in the short term, the
pessimists will look right,  but they will be proven wrong by
mid-April. "Within a week to 10 days, we will find out about the mettle
of the Republican Guard," the general was quoted as saying.
