Hi Ira,
Ensign and IQ Feed is indeed a lovely
combination.
Options quite on IQ Feed is the BEST I have seen so
far. Fast and accurate. As close as you could find to bloomberg. Beat
eSignal, even eSignal could be a few minutes behind.
Ensign is a very powerful software, love the
programming aspect of it. However it may not be as powerful as <A
href="">http://www.wealth-lab.com, which is
strictly for system testing.
With regards to your problem that Ensign missing on
some datas, are you using windows 98? Windows 98 very bad for trading platform,
very bad memory hog. You can use windows 2000 professional or even
XP.
I think the only problem is that I cannot use
iqfeed with 2 or more softwares at one time.:( Which means I need mulitple
subscription.
Thanks.
Chuanren

Subject: Re: [RT] DTN IQ, QCharts, CBOE,
eSignal and reliable stock options feed
I have been a BMI user since 1989. It is my
understanding that eSignal isgoing to discontinue satellite transmission
very soon. That was confirmedby them. An exact date has not
been established as yet.I looked into both DTNiq and eSignal as they
are the two platforms that aresupported by Ensign. Ensign has a new
Beta version for DTNiq.If you sign up for DTNiq you receive both DTNiq
and DTN feed. DTN feed iswhat is necessary to support Ensign.
DTNiq provides 1000 possible symboluse, which is greater then
eSignal.Costs are substantially different. If you pay month to
month DTN is $70plus exchange fees and there is a $95 initiation
fee. eSignal is $129 permonth for me as a long time user and with a
prepay option it is $99 permonth. With the prepay option DTNiq is
$44.50 per month with the sameinitiation fee. If you mention my name
when you sign up you will get a $100credit as a referral. I will also get
the same credit. The only otherdifference in costs is that if you
pay DTNiq on a month to month basis thereis a $20 monthly charge for stock
options. In both cases you get all of theexchanges on a delayed
basis. To get real time data you have to add theexchange fees which are
the same no matter who you use. With DTNiq theexchange fees are paid
on a month to month basis. If you would like someoneto talk to about
DTNiq call Jerry Prazan at 1-800-511-0096 EXT 3249. As Isaid earlier
mention my name as your referral when you set up the trial andif you
decide to sign up permanently.DTNiq has a very basic charting package,
personally I think that it sucks incomparison with Ensign. The
options template is excellent providing all ofthe Greeks and it is laid
out very well and is very flexible. A chart takesup about half of the
screen and the indicator the other half of the screen. You can bring up
several charts of the item if you work with multiple timeframes.
They have most of indicators that are normally used. There is notemplate
format so you have to do the same chore each time you changecharts. This
is a personal matter and should be examined by each individual. If you take
the trial version there is no cost, you do pay the full amountfor exchange
fees. They are not pro rated, but if you sign up then the restof the
month is paid for. I took the trial and paid for the stock exchangesand
the options exchanges which amounted to $4.00. The indicators
andstatistics come in real time anyway. At that time I found that
the datafeed for DTNiq and the CBOE were about the same for the most
heavily tradedoptions like IBM, OEX and QQQ. I used 3
different computers, one withDTNiq, one with BMI satellite feed and the
third with the CBOE web site inthe comparison. Satellite feed was the
slowest. Now to reliability. DTNiq is up 24/7. I have found
a couple of problemsthat don't bother me, but which might bother another
trader. With Bean Oilcharts the data is correct during the day and
is charted with 4 digits. Acouple of hours after the close when
DTNiq is on refresh the charts arebrought up with 2 digits so instead of
2100 they read 21. I have contactedtech support about this.
With Ensign every now an then something happensthat causes data to not be
received. Who is the problem I don't know. Thesolution is to
exit Ensign and reboot it. The only other difference betweenDTNiq
and eSignal that I know of is the amount of data available.
DTNiqprovides data back about 10 yrs. Check this for yourselves as I
am notpositive about this fact. This is more then enough data than I need
totrade.I hope that this answers most of your questions.
Having only been real timefor about a week this is about all I can
relay. If DTNiq is like any otherfeed I am sure there will be
problems. They do have redundant systems anddifferent servers
provide daily and intra day data. Oh! one other problem.I use DSL
and a wireless router. I had to open up ports in the router toallow
data in. There is a range of ftp ports and tcp ports that need to
beopened in order to receive data.Ira.----- Original
