Hi Kevin,
 
It is sometimes useful to trade one market bases on 
another, and certainly worth investigating.  The goal is to find if the 
market being analyzed leads the market being traded thus having some predictive 
power.  For example;  IF the QQQ's are trades more by amateur 
investors and the OEX options are traded more by professionals, the 
amateurs MAY often be late getting into a trend, just when it is ready to 
reverse (emphasis on IF and MAY) thus giving an edge.
