In answer to an offline question:
There is a tendancy for price to seek the higher
volume price levels so if price gets too high or too low and volume dries up
price will move back to where there is more volume. That is the point of
control. The vahigh and valow define the 68.2% of tick volume. When
price goes on a search and destroy looking for that higher volume it may have to
seek a new distribution with a shift in the 3 levels. Basically it is
playing off the probability of price distribution.
