I'll be brutally honest. If your friend thinks
that all he has to do to become a good trader is to find a few good websites,
giving
a couple of modestly good ones to someone who doesn't
even have the wherewithal to use a search engine may be like handing him
a handgun. This may seem harsh but many traders have done years or decades
of research and few of them agree on what is a 'good' trading website and
why. Not only does one have to find his own 'good' candidates, but he must
test them relentlessly against historical data to see which 'pass', which
meet his goals and style, etc..

Perhaps it might be the biggest favor to offer
him a url such as http://www.traderspress.com/
where he can gain access to information beyond the leftovers that are available
for free. If he balks at the cost of even a few books, part of the tuition
of any trader, he's not going to be able to handle a trade that goes against
him, and serious loss is sure to follow.

Sounds like more of the 'all I've gotta do to trade
is get an internet connection and Supercharts' scenario to me and it scares
 me.

    Group,
I have a friend who has left his job
of 20 years and is in a transition period in his life. He now wants to
have a go at day-trading stocks. He's really gung-ho and I've tried to
explain that it's not a cake-walk. At least he is smart enuff to have
set aside "x" amount of dollars for this endeavor. Playing-around-can-afford-to-lose-it-money. He
wants to do his learning on the web. Would appreciate any sites that are
considered outstanding for this.
    thanxs,
    Harry
