There was an article in the NYT a few months ago about a charter school in
NYC for Chinese kids (can't remember if it was Mandarin or Cantonese), and
how more parents from the West Indies were sending their kids there. Had
something to do with the more strict and academic nature of the program that
was familiar to those who went to school in the Carribean. Those kids go
through all the Chinese language classes so they come out being bilingual.
