If you are like most investors, the poor performance of the stock market over the past three years has been hard on your portfolio. However, during the same period, one group of investments has continued to perform well, alternative investments, more specifically managed futures.

While the attractive returns possible through managed futures is one main reason many investors participate, another very important reason for participating in managed futures has its foundation in Modern Portfolio Theory (Harry Markowitz). The premise of Modern Portfolio Theory is the risk of an investment can be reduced and performance increased by holding a number of uncorrelated investments in different asset classes, which do not move in lockstep with each other. Professionally managed futures fits this description quite nicely. Futures are a distinct asset class different from securities. In fact, studies have shown the correlation between commodities and stocks and bonds to be practically zero, making futures an ideal asset class with which to properly diversify an investment portfolio!

Traditionally speaking, most people refer to managed futures account as money traded by various CTA's (Commodity Trading Advisors) and CPO's (Commodity Pool Operations). However, there is another type of managed futures account that is relatively new to individual investors - Trading Systems. A trading system is software that is designed to follow certain parameters and rules (trading signals) based on market technical movement.

Angus Jackson Inc. is a future and commodity brokerage firm based in Ft. Lauderdale for over eleven years specializing in trading various types of publicly and proprietary trading systems. In essence, they managed the individual clients monies by following the systems trading signals exactly as designed. Most individuals fail in trading a system themselves because they lack the time or discipline to do so.
