It does seem pretty obvious that all the French and Germans want to see is
the US (or maybe Bush is a more accurate way to put it) fail, but that's
also true of half of Congress and about 40% of the US population. And while
there is a stark contrast between the current leadership of the US and that
of France/Germany, it seems the US is also pretty good at whining and
putting their hand out. In any event it's a pretty silly strategy since
everyone loses if we do fail.
I happen to believe Bush is on the right track, but since none of us have
access to intel and there is no outcome as of yet, the time for forming
judgments isn't here yet.

There's nothing to understand about the French. They have a
history of being collaborators. Period. They hate America and Americans. Yet
they have no problem taking our aid just like every other country out there.
Hell, if we go to war against Northern Korea, I guarantee at the
same time we'll continue to be paying aid to them just as we have been for
many years. We feed them, we give them billions of dollars worth of heating
oil every year...and what do they do; they threaten to incinerate us.
Want your taxes reduced, we should pull in the trillions of
dollars of foreign aid we give away every damn year that is not appreciated
one bit number one, and which most of which is stolen by the accepting
government officials number 2.
Iraq; Oil for food...yeah, right. We continue to pump aid into
that country as well yet our boys will be over there dying soon.
I'm all for helping people, but when it's not appreciated and
taken for granted, then it's time to end it.
And that's not to say that just because we give aid that
countries have to be our lackies. But then again, how many tirants has our
government created. Sadam, Marcos as long as they're our SOB's, that makes
it all ok I guess.

Let's see ... France was happy to tweak the British to further
their own
economic interests during the Revolutionary War. Very few
French actually
gave their lives on American soil in defense of American

other hand, hundreds of thousands of Americans have given
their lives on
French soil in defense of French liberty during 2 World Wars.
So the scales
are in balance and the French can now thumb their noses at
America? Hardly!
I happen to think that Bush and crew are on the wrong track
but I hardly
think we need lessons from France!
