Jim,

Thanks for your feedback! Overall, my experience is closer to yours than my
own, though this week and over the past few, there have been a number
service 'slowdowns' for me.

I had one data stoppage/hole last week, but no others for a long time.

But the slowdowns at certain times, based on the status bar at the bottom
right of the Qfeed app, were more frequent, and significant in the time
delays they exhibited.

I certainly agree that QFeed is typically faster than many other feeds, when
it is performing normally.

I guess one thing we can take from this, is that our respective locations
may be a key difference too. The number of hops to whatever server we are
on, and all the other more "local" net factors.

I too am using DSL on some fast and memory replete Win2K boxes, and I also
run QFeed into QCharts directly, along with the Dynastore into TS2K setup. I
trade from my home in the Santa Monica Mountains just outside of LA.

I used to find the Sunyvale servers were more consistent for me, perhaps due
to their left coast locale, but they too went through a problem period.
Until these most recent slowdowns, I'd been using Boston servers of late,
though the additional number of hops for me is often 5+.

And though the days always starts out fine, when the trading gets busy, the
servers get sluggish it seems. Glad to hear its working for you though.

I appreciate your input. It's always thoughtful, and of value.

Eliot

PS: One interesting aside is that before I traded, I used to have a frame
relay setup. Very consistent connectivity. I wish I had a dedicated setup
now. It would be an interesting comparison. The downside was that I paid
$400/mo for it. DSL is $39/mo.

I wonder though if the DSL has something to do with my problems. ADSL (which
most non commercial DSL users have) is not a "dedicated" line as some think,
at least as I understand it. The "cloud" as Verizon calls it, may have more
users that are sharing the local switch, and that may be coincidentally
affecting my service. Just a guess though.

Still, my best guess is still Qfeed's Servers, judging by the number of
complaints on the QCharts list. Too many like problems to not be related.

Ahh the mysteries of datafeeds, and the net! - )
