RE: [RT] Would a book on ag options sell if so, what must it have in it?

If your ambition is to write an options book .. then nothing should stand in
your way. Dozens of books have been written by "hands on" folks in the
industry. Again that shouldn't deter you. You should follow your ambition.

Very few of the books written have been economically viable, but you might
be have the next bestseller .. so you need to be clear as to your motive. I
hired and worked with a guy who has written a handful of option books,
including a book, just released on Ag option trading.
If his day job hadn't supported the writing and provided the creditability
to attract a publishing house .. there would have been no favorable
economics.

By the way, one of the best hands on books that never appears on anyone's
list "Listed Stock Options: The Hands -On Study Guide For Investors And
Traders. It is available in softcover so it is relatively inexpensive.

Your first step should be to attract a publisher or decide if you will self
publish. A publisher can decide from a bio and a solid outline.

Subject: [RT] Would a book on ag options sell if so, what must it have

Hi thank you for any feedback you can provide.

I am interested in writing a book about options trading. From the
available literature , McMillan, Natenberg (sp.?) I have reviewed it
seems there would is a need for a book which teaches the actual
decision making process of professional options traders in real life
situations. The above authors seemed to have focused primarily on the
theoretical aspects of options.

I have been trading futures and options for almost 20 years and as a
group, the highest rate of success I have seen for traders is for
those trading options.

As I know many full-time options traders I would be able to detail
the strategies they use on a day to day basis for trading options.
For example, when they use ratio spreads, how they handle rising
volatility markets, low volatility markets, what they look for when
they screen options, the importance of historical volatility. How
they handle gamma, delta neutral strategies etc. What do they look
for when trading off the screen etc.

I would also include an actual day-by-day account of a very
successful options traders trading over a several month period.

Would this sort of book sell? Is there anything in previous options
books that has been lacking, that I should make sure to include?
