Z-trader ....I have been hit by many viruses ..but only infected by one of
them (this virus was not emailed out to anyone else btw ..it was stopped at
my computer),..but I agree h what you have said is definitely
possible/probable that this is not a 100% guaranteed method ..especially
since my sample size is so small...
But In the case I have described above ..the virus infection resulted,
around the time when the first of these infected emails with attachments
which you do not have to click on, to become infected,..started to
circulate.
The first I became aware of the virus on my computer was when my firewall
put up a message on the screen, saying something like .....XYZ.exe wants
control of Outlook express....Can XYZ.exe have control of Outlook
express....YES or NO.
By selecting NO..I was able to prevent many people in my adress book from
recieving the same virus.
PS I was running updated virus software at the time as well (McAffety's
..which I have since switched from)
Based on this ..I think many of the viruses currently circulating would be
slowed way down ..(if not halted) if all Yahoo forum member had an updated
virus checker & firewall (also proper configuration of the firewall as you
mention) ..imo
