Hello Norman
what markets would you recommend that are at 30 year
low
coffee and what else?
Hello,
Perhaps you remember that last fall I forecasted that
the economy would bottom circa November 1, 2001 but the economists won't tell
you this until February 2002. I also said that given the severly
depressed level of several commodities at that time, anything less than a full
blown depression would present an opportunity for these markets to go up. At
that time, I listed Coffee, Copper, Cotton, Silver, Soybeans, & Sugar as
possible buy candidates.
Since then, I have exited all Copper and Silver longs for
handsome profits. I have also exited part of my initial long positions
in Cotton and Soybeans for additional profit while awaiting further upside
targets. I think the Copper play is dead for awhile. In the other five
markets,
I would consider buying or adding to existing long position
on a substantial pullback toward major long term support.
By the way, I think there is a good probability that
the current economic recovery is now in trouble and that we will get a second
bottom that will probably come next year. So, there is no need to chase
anything. In the post bubble economy, just wait long enough and you may
get your wish. Sell on extreme strength, buy on extreme weakness, as
soon as momentum wanes. So called momentum investing is dead.
Study the markets of the late 60s and early 70s for a clue as to what to
expect. I think Earl is on the right track.
Cheers,Norman

Sean,
Yes, as I posted a few days ago, this is
a symptom of a post bubble market.
During the next several years, with
intervevning periolds of volatility and resulting opportunity, the overall
theme of the stock market should be something akin to Chinese water
torture. You may want to take a look at those markets that topped 30
years ago and are now or are recently at severely depressed levels for a
major buying opportunity.
Cheers,Norman

Subject: [RT] A Difficult
market???
A simple question......For someone who trades
primarily equities and their options, as well as the E Mini Nasdaq and
S&P, has this market been difficult to trade overall. I was just
trying to solicit the opinions of other traders out there, as I work
primarily alone and tend to get somewhat isolated. I have managed to grind
out small profits since January....but think in general, I should of done
better. And if this is in case a difficult market, when do people foresee
things returning to "normal"?
Thanks
