George and I had a productive and informative phone chat last night and
found that we share the same goals for our group. George has a bit more on
his plate than I do at this time of his life and it was decided that as I
had more time and seemed to have the group's support, I would be added as
moderator. It is my belief that the best list moderators do the least
moderating and I intend to handle this list with that in mind. I also
believe that a group such as this should decide how they want their list
run and what policies should be set for the membership. To that end, I
will be asking the list for comments about our current policy statement
with regard to any changes, additions or deletions which may be needed. (I
will post the current statement later today and ask for your
suggestions). I am also going to ask a very limited number of senior list
members if they will serve as a committee to reflect the group's wishes and
to vote on such things as suspensions of posting privileges, removal from
the list, etc.
We have more than 800 list members and it appears at first glance that some
of those are lists themselves so we are going to have a wide diversity of
opinions about trading. I want to go on record right here as saying that I
support all aspects of trading principals and this includes technical,
fundamental, astrological, and yes, psychological concepts but if we are
going to approach trading from a psychological perspective, the posts will
have a definitive objective and will clearly define that objective while
explaining its merits within the trading enhancements it
offers. ie: There will be no further preaching from a pulpit of self
proclaimed, divine knowledge with an obvious intent to do little more than
inflame others.
Two list members have been removed. They were removed for offering little
to the list other than controversy, discourtesy and a nearly complete lack
of respect for other members of our group.
I am available for any thoughts, suggestions or criticism ... just mail me
directly unless you feel your thoughts need to be shared by the list.
Last, I really liked the idea about the contest someone suggested. We may
want to look into that idea and expand on it. I'm not sure that any
"payoff" is required beyond an ego boost but we'll see how you all feel
about that. For right now, we will each read our mail from this list with
the knowledge that there will be posts from many trading styles, people
asking questions to learn and people sharing their knowledge to help them
learn while everyone demonstrates respect and courtesy for their fellow
list members.
